How not to Spook Your Partner

A Step Into Self Discovery

Do you like to be boxed in or prefer a more liberal approach to sexuality? If you prefer the latter, this post is for you. Nowadays, there are numerous titles and labels based on sexual orientation. But if none of these appeal to you, that’s sexual orientation fluidity. One day you can wake up gay and the next as a bisexual male. You’re probably wondering how that works and that’s why we’re debunking sexual fluidity. Let’s dive into fluidity on the sexual level and why you’d do better being fluid than heterosexual.

Understanding Sexual Fluidity

Are you the same person you were two years ago? Most probably not.
Different things cause us to change what or who we like, and the same applies in sexual fluidity. While most people believe sexual orientation remains the same from birth, more liberal individuals have no boundaries. Who you are, who you have sex with and the tags you give to your sexuality are all up to you. Don’t hold back or feel ashamed. Sex is more psychological than physical. Not a one size fits all!

Discovering Your True Self: Why Choose Fluidity?

Sexuality is like light passing through a glass prism.

With several labels to choose from, fluid individuals prefer no restrictions or limits on sexual preferences and encounters. Above that, fluidity speaks freedom, allowing you to discover your likes and dislikes.

  • You decide who tickles your fancy
  • Choose how you want sex to look and feel
  • Freedom and flexibility to change sexuality when it feels appropriate

So how do you know you’re sexually fluid?
Here’s a checklist to test your fluidity:

Getting Turned on By Multiple Genders

If you look at a man, woman, trans or non-binary and think, “I want to fuck them” you’re most likely sexually fluid. Also, if your sexual attractions change constantly over time, you’re as fluid as it gets. It’s important to note that sexual fluidity goes beyond being bisexual. Bisexuals only prefer having sex with men and women. The better term to use for sexually fluid individuals would be spectrasexual or pansexual.

Constantly Changing Sexual Preferences and Identity

Being open-minded in the bedroom is important. But this is different. Sexual fluidity means you have random and constant changes in:

  • Sexual desires
  • Attractions
  • Fantasies
  • Fetishes

If you’re sexually fluid, you’re also open to out of the box sexual experiences and prefer different relationship types, like polyamory and open relationships.

Traditional Labels Bore You

While some people are proud to pronounce themselves as gay, lesbian, straight, or bisexual, sexually fluid individuals prefer pansexual and queer. These labels are less restricting and allow you to be whoever you feel like, thus the Q in LGBTQ+
Being sexually fluid means you’re not locking yourself up in a tiny little box trying to fit into labels. Spread your wings and be whoever you want to be!

You’re Driven By Emotional Connections

You’re certainly sexually fluid if you don’t care about a partner’s gender.

The emotional connection turns you on and you easily forget if they’re trans, male or female. When you meet someone that drives you nuts, you don’t care if they go by he, she or they. All you care about is their feelings towards you and yours towards them. Once you find a partner that matches this energy, sex becomes more passionate and freeing. That’s what we all crave for.

Past Preferences Speak Fluidity

If you’re sexually fluid, it certainly didn’t start now.

Think back at crushes and partners you’ve had. Were they of one sexuality, strictly male or female? If not, you were fluid even before you knew it! Take your time to go through each one of them. Rest assured you’ll discover patterns you’ve never paid attention to.
